The most demanding international fire-fighting contest in the world the IRON FIREMAN ® is here again. This time the scene of this attractive firefighters’ race which will be held on Saturday, September 4 from 12:00 AM, will be yet another of the CITY projects on Pankrác, the CITY Empiria building and the Arkády Pankrác Shopping Centre.
Same as in the past years, even this time the contest will be attended by professional fire fighters from the entire Europe. The volunteer firemen will again check their strength against the professionals. Contestants will compete in the various disciplines, such as carrying the 80 kg dummy; jumping over 2 meters high barrier or carrying two 30 kg barrels. The competitors will have to undergo these tasks in a full outfit, as if they were going to intervene in the fire. The ascent to the 26th floor of the City Empiria will be featured as well. Even this year the competition will include a parallel race, which increases the attractiveness of the contest to the viewers. The winners will receive cash awards.
The event will be also featuring other interesting accompanying program. The spectators will have the opportunity to try some of the disciplines on their own; they will be able to see one of the fire rescue vehicles and emergency ambulance vehicles. The pleasant atmosphere of the event will be provided by the amplified music. This time the music will be mixed by the contestants themselves. Every contestant will start with his favorite song. Probably the most attractive spectacle for the viewers in the accompanying program will be an example of recovering the victims from a car crash or a demonstration of the bomb disposal work performed by the Czech Republic Police.
The IRON FIREMAN ® contest is organized already for the ninth time by the ECM, the POŽÁRY.cz web server and the Arkády Pankrác Shopping Centre. The contest is dedicated to the memory of firefighters who died during their service.
The contest will be held under the auspices of the director of the Prague Fire Brigade Col. Dalibor Gosman.
From September 1, to September 4, 2010, the Arkády Pankrác will be featuring the exhibition of pictures painted by the children from primary schools on the subject of firefighters and their work. Author of the best picture will receive valuable prizes.
