Deichmann SE, a company based in Essen (Germany) was established in 1913 and it is wholly owned by the family of its founder. The company is the largest shoe retailer in Europe and it employs over 30,000 workers worldwide.

The name Deichmann is used by the stores in Germany, Bulgaria, Denmark, Great Britain, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary. In addition to these stores, this retail group is represented in Switzerland (Dosenbach/Ochsner Sport), in Netherlands (vanHaren) and in the USA (Rack Room Shoes/Off Broadway). In 2011 the group will be joined by other countries - Portugal and Serbia.
